The Science of the 12th World Congress
In the pages that follow in this supplement, you will find a broad rendering of what is happening worldwide in the field of Disaster, Emergency, Prehospital, and Humanitarian Medicine. Posters and oral presentations truly will be presented from every corner of the world. Presenters will come from 33 different countries on five continents.
The papers have a wide range of subject material. In addition, the methodologies range from well-controlled experimental studies to qualitative studies to descriptive studies. In short, there is something for everyone in our field. Major topics included:

Each of the abstracts that follow has been edited for English, as for many of the authors, English is not their first language. The editors have attempted to capture the main points for each of the abstracts. Importantly, simultaneous translations will be provided for many of the native languages during the Congress.
For ease of use, the abstracts have been printed in alphabetical order according to the names of the first authors. Each abstract can be found easily by consulting the Table of Contents for the Supplement or by locating the name of an author in the comprehensive index provided at the end of this Supplement. In addition, a comprehensive index by subjects also is provided for ease of finding the abstracts of interest.
