Prehospital and Disaster Medicine

FOR EMERGENCY AND DISASTER MEDICINE

Originally formed as the Club of Mainz in 1975, the WADEM mission is to synthesize original research and practical experience in order to improve the delivery of everyday emergency medical services, public health and safety, and the provision of medical care and health services to those stricken by disaster. The organization is international in scope, including in its membership-distinguished physicians and administrators from around the world as well as national and international emergency health care officials. On alternate years, the WADEM Regional and World Congresses on Disaster and Emergency Medicine provide a showcase for international research and education. On the odd years, World Congresses are convened and in the even years, regional congresses are sponsored and supported. The 14th World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine was convened in Edinburgh, Scotland in May 2005, the 15th in Amsterdam in 2007, and the 16th will be in Victoria Island, Brisish Columbia. The first Pan-American Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine was convened in San Jose, Costa Rica during March 1998., the second in Mexico City in 2003, and the 3rd in San Salvador, El Salvador in March of 2004. NORDIC SOCIETY FOR DISASTER MEDICINE
The Nordic Society for Disaster Medicine is an umbrella organization for the Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish Societies for Disaster Medicine.
